Welcome Back Blog Readers,
I hope all of you are enjoying your summer thus far. Today, I
would like to talk about window treatments. All too often, I notice that when
it comes to room décor, clients have difficulty when it comes to their windows.
They buy beautiful furniture, lighting, and hang great art on the walls, but
window treatments are either nonexistent or they just choose ready-made blinds.
There is nothing better in my eyes, as a room with beautiful drapery. Not only
does it complete the room, it adds privacy.
I have just completed a fantastic design project with
amazing clients in Brookline. We focused on the dining room; my drapery fabricator
and I incorporated tailored panels, sheer fabrics, and a gold rod for privacy,
as the dining room faced the front of the home. The completed look gives a very
contemporary feel that my clients had asked for.
One important factor when choosing fabrics for windows is to
always try to choose a product of a fine thread count and composition; this is
always a factor in the way draperies will hang. Below we used a sheer fabric
from Romo & Co., and side panels from Fabricut. Most of all, your window
treatments require fine workmanship, as this is the key to a great finished,
polished appearance.
So, folks, as I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”
Best,
Robin
