Heading Into Spring with Christian Lacroix

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

With spring just around the corner, we would like to introduce one of our most favorite designers, Christian Lacroix and his newest collection: Histoires Naturelles. This bold printed wallpaper and fabric collection brings in all the elements of nature with an exciting twist! One of Lacroix’s signatures is his use of strong, saturated colors. In researching this highly acclaimed designer, Mr. Christian Lacroix, his bold use of color came from his past in designing theater costumes. Not only was Mr. Lacroix a couturier to famous clients (Christina Aguilera’s wedding gown), he was also instrumental in the design of perfumes and a full line of home accessories.

Welcoming Mr. Lacroix’s new collection also marks Osborne & Little’s 50th Anniversary in the wallpaper and fabric industry. We at The Four Walls always enjoy sharing with our clientele Osborne & Little wallcovering and fabrics with their cutting-edge European design. You can find their full collection here at The Four Walls Wallpaper & Design Studio.

As I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”

Warmest,

Robin and Design Associate Regina

Your Master Bedroom... The Right Vibe

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so today’s blog post is about having the right vibe in your bedroom. By this we mean specifically, how to create the best bedroom design mood. As we all know, folks, with this winter being a rough one, we’ve all woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Bedroom design can impact the quality of your sleep and can help you start the day off right.

A lot of my clients ask me for bright colors and bold prints in their wall coverings and fabrics. It might be exhilarating, but if you want a calm atmosphere and better sleep quality, restful colors are soft neutrals, such as: pastels, taupe, light grays, gray-greens, gray-blues, and the like. By restful fabrics, stick with patterns of the same colors, even if it is a large print. For bedding, it is most important to always purchase the highest thread count possible. Quality for your sheets is of the utmost importance! When choosing a down comforter, make sure it is feather down as it is lightweight and the best choice for sound sleep.

Next to better sleep, my suggestion is to always keep your bedroom clean. And folks, you know who you are. If there is a pile of laundry in the corner or a stack of papers on a chair for work or your laptop left wide open, your mind will always focus on the work you have to do, and you will not be able to unwind. That is why I always suggest a home office separate from your bedroom. I never answer an email or bring my design work into my bedroom.

So, folks, if you try these simple design tips, you might just fall in love with your bedroom, and for some, maybe just in time for Valentine’s Day!

And as I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”

Best Always,

Robin
