Welcome Back Blog Readers,
I hope all of you enjoyed the holiday season and the
beginning of another New Year. We would like to thank you for the wonderful
accolades on our Best of Boston Award! The Four Walls has always been well known
for our fine wallcovering selection, however we would like to let you know that
we also carry an extensive line of designer fabrics for upholstery and window
treatments. That being said, today’s blog post features 2018’s current trend:
Ikat.
Ikat is derived from the Malaysian word meaning “to tie”.
Ikat is the technique of taking bundles of threads tied in segments, using
resist-dye to create unique patterns. This traditional technique dates back
centuries and have appeared in traditional and cultural textiles in many parts
of the world such as Southeast Asia, South America, and the Middle East. The
ikat pattern is very versatile because it can be used in contemporary or
traditional interior applications in your home. It is also one of my personal
favorites to obtain a sophisticated look!
Below are photos of some of my favorite selections:
Brave the cold and cabin fever and stop by to check out our
designer fabric collections of 2018!
So as I always say folks, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”
Best,
Robin
