Window Treatments; A Complementary Look!

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

I hope all of you are enjoying your summer thus far. Today, I would like to talk about window treatments. All too often, I notice that when it comes to room décor, clients have difficulty when it comes to their windows. They buy beautiful furniture, lighting, and hang great art on the walls, but window treatments are either nonexistent or they just choose ready-made blinds. There is nothing better in my eyes, as a room with beautiful drapery. Not only does it complete the room, it adds privacy.

I have just completed a fantastic design project with amazing clients in Brookline. We focused on the dining room; my drapery fabricator and I incorporated tailored panels, sheer fabrics, and a gold rod for privacy, as the dining room faced the front of the home. The completed look gives a very contemporary feel that my clients had asked for.

One important factor when choosing fabrics for windows is to always try to choose a product of a fine thread count and composition; this is always a factor in the way draperies will hang. Below we used a sheer fabric from Romo & Co., and side panels from Fabricut. Most of all, your window treatments require fine workmanship, as this is the key to a great finished, polished appearance.

So, folks, as I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”

Best,

Robin

SAY YES TO VINYL!

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce to you today the new revised concept within the wallcovering design industry. Vinyl textures that imitate real grass cloth with patterns placed on top of the texture. This new Spring 2018 wallcovering launch from England may be used in any area of your home because they are completely washable, and because they are vinyl they may be used in steamy bathrooms, kitchens, and hallways where your little one may hold the wall going up and down the stairs. Unlike the “paneling effect” that real grass cloth has on a wall, these vinyl & linen counterparts show virtually no seams or paneling. They are also very stylish, timeless and subtle with geometrics, floral and scenic patterns.

My clients are adoring these vinyl wallcoverings because they are chic, practical and also hide imperfections in older homes that have horsehair plaster, or badly plastered walls.

Stop by the Four Walls and see these new wallcoverings for Spring 2018 in person!

And, as I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!

Best,

Robin

It's All About Aura!

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

One of my most favorite wallpaper and fabric design companies is Stroheim. I have been introducing my clients to their products for over thirty years. It is with much excitement that I introduce to you today their latest Spring launch, called Aura. This new collection is unlike anything that they have ever designed previously. The collection incorporates hand-printed silk patterns of Asian influence, and geometrics with multiple textures of unusual contemporary design. The collection includes coordinated fabrics that can be used with their wallcoverings. My opinion of Aura is its soft, sophisticated, and timeless approach will enhance any design style in one’s home.

Stop by The Four Walls to explore this collection in person.

And, as I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!

Best,

Robin

PRECIOUS METALS

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

Now that the snow is finally gone and the spring season is here, it’s time to fill your home with brightness and radiance. The hot trend for Spring 2018 are metallics. In fabrics, wallcoverings, and home decor. We, the interior design and home furnishing industry, have put forth an emphasis on copper, bronze, silver, and gold. The other colors used with these choices are gray and navy blue. These combinations, I feel, are so incredibly sophisticated, and ones that are timeless. So, folks, put some razz-ma-tazz in your home decor this spring season; I’m sure the Easter Bunny will be insulted that we’re not using pastels!

So, as I always say, folks, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”

Happy Easter, everyone!

Best,

Robin

Heading Into Spring with Christian Lacroix

Welcome Back Blog Readers,

With spring just around the corner, we would like to introduce one of our most favorite designers, Christian Lacroix and his newest collection: Histoires Naturelles. This bold printed wallpaper and fabric collection brings in all the elements of nature with an exciting twist! One of Lacroix’s signatures is his use of strong, saturated colors. In researching this highly acclaimed designer, Mr. Christian Lacroix, his bold use of color came from his past in designing theater costumes. Not only was Mr. Lacroix a couturier to famous clients (Christina Aguilera’s wedding gown), he was also instrumental in the design of perfumes and a full line of home accessories.

Welcoming Mr. Lacroix’s new collection also marks Osborne & Little’s 50th Anniversary in the wallpaper and fabric industry. We at The Four Walls always enjoy sharing with our clientele Osborne & Little wallcovering and fabrics with their cutting-edge European design. You can find their full collection here at The Four Walls Wallpaper & Design Studio.

As I always say, “Don’t be afraid to decorate!”

Warmest,

Robin and Design Associate Regina
